Students will learn: the basic processes of receiving, transferring, processing, storing, disseminating, presenting information using information technology and technology in medicine and healthcare; definition and components of eHealth and directions of their development; types of medical information, goals and levels of their use; to apply, analyze and develop methods of mathematical calculations and computer modeling in medicine; to choose the most appropriate standard, universal computer science tools for solving medical problems; the methods of mathematical calculations and computer modeling that are used in medicine and public health; the basic skills of using ready-made software solutions and the development of new algorithms for solving complex problems in medicine.
A historical reference will be given on how the medical informatics was born. The relationship between medical informatics and other sciences will be examined. A review of the main application software for solving medical problems will be carried out.
The issues of using the methods of medical statistics for solving medical problems will be considered. The issues of using telecommunication technologies in medicine, use of Internet resources will be covered. The main concepts of the architecture of medical information systems will be outlined, examples of domestic and international systems will be given. The issues of the basic requirements for the development of this class of systems will be highlighted separately. The issues of using information systems with the support of scientific activity and translational research will be discussed in detail. The main issues of information security, features of the Russian legislation on the protection of personal data with reference to medical data will be considered. The prospects of information technologies in medicine, the main stages of the transition to e-health will be considered.
